16 injured in a taxi accident in Parktown
PARKTOWN - Taxi crash leaves 16 people injured.
This morning just before 9am, Emer-G-Med dispatched multiple resources to a taxi crash on the corner of Carse ‘O Gowrie and Boundary, in Parktown.
It’s alleged that the taxi’s brakes failed while turning into Carse ‘O Gowrie Street, causing the taxi to collide with a rock wall.
According to spokesperson for Emer-G-Med Max Cohen, one person was entrapped within the taxi and was extricated by fire and rescue personnel using the “jaws of life”.
He added that two people sustained critical injuries and required advanced life support care.
A total of 16 patients, including a number of children, were transported to various nearby hospitals for further care.
Metro police were on the scene to investigate.
