The Best of Joburg panel of judges visited Rosebank Mall to choose the fairest and most creative of them all in a shop window dressing competition.
All 68 participating businesses were given a theme and had to dress a section of their windows accordingly. Judges looked for originality, effort and creativity in all displays.
Reigning Miss South Africa, Ntandoyenkosi Kunene, assisted the Best of Joburg team with the judging and said she was impressed by the amount of effort put in by the businesses in dressing their windows up to attract more people to the stores.
“When you go shopping, you never really pay attention to the displays,” said Kunene.
“Businesses went all-out to fit the theme, which was so amazing, and I have so many favourites.”
Gaby Peters, marketing manager of the centre who was also part of the panel, said many of the businesses in the centre had taken part in the competition. “Today is very exciting, it’s the first time that we [Rosebank Mall] are participating in the Best of Joburg after having redeveloped recently,” said Peters.
“We are honored to have Miss South Africa here as well, and to have the whole of the Best of Joburg team today.”
According to Dejaine Poil, Caxton Magazines Print Group marketing manager, judging all the windows and choosing the best was tons of fun.
“We now have to decide who the three winners are. We will be choosing from a large, medium and a small store,” said Poil.
“Seeing all the people being drawn to the competition while we’ve been walking around the mall, people coming to greet Miss South Africa and taking photos and to see how popular she is has been fulfilling.”
Voting for the best in Joburg closes on 15 August and the winner will be announced soon after.
