5 bust for drug manufacture

JOBURG - Five suspects aged between 22 and 29 arrested for drug manufacture.

Jeppe police arrested five suspects for possession and manufacturing of drugs recently.

Warrant Officer Richard Munyayi from Jeppe Police Station explained that police received information that there are people who were manufacturing drugs in Grace Street in Jeppestown. The police then proceeded to the address and found five men seated around a fire.

According to Munyayi, police introduced themselves and requested to search the suspects. “Upon searching them they found plastic bags containing substances believed to be Thai white or cat, as well as rocks [crack cocaine] and equipment believed to be used to manufacture the drugs.

“When the suspects were asked what is happening with the drugs they pointed fingers at each other,” explained Munyayi.

The suspects, aged between 22 and 29, were arrested and detained at Jeppe Police Station. They will appear in court soon.

The investigation continues.

Jeppe Police Station forms part of the Johannesburg East Cluster, which includes Cleveland, Jeppe, Hillbrow, Rosebank, Parkview, Norwood and Yeoville police stations.
