Child author shines with more awards

WAVERLEY – Acclaimed young author scoops two more awards for her book.

 

Child author, Stacey Fru was once again recognised and awarded for her literary efforts at the Nelson Mandela International Day Community Leadership Awards on 23 July.

The nine-year-old Sacred Heart College pupil, author of her published book, Smelly Cats, received two more awards in recognition of her book and motivational role as a young author. The two awards follow her recent recognition and award at the South African Early Childhood Development (ECD) Awards, also for her book.

The first award Fru received at the Nelson Mandela International Day Community Leadership Awards was in the academic achievements and initiatives category, which recognised her book; while the second award was in the young community leadership category, which recognised Fru for her motivational role in the community.

Smelly Cats, was released last year in June and tells the poignant story of Mark and Mack and the challenges they face growing up.

Fru, a Waverley resident, has another published book under her belt and is currently working on a sequel to Smelly Cats.

Her proud parents expressed gratitude for the recognition and support the youngster has received over the past year.
