Smash-and-grab leaves victim shaken

BRAMLEY – Police hunt for Bramley smash-and-grab suspect.

A Waverley resident was left shaken following an alleged smash-and-grab incident which took place in Bramley on 12 July.

The incident took place on the M1 South off-ramp just off Corlett Drive as the woman was waiting in traffic. Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, spokesperson for Bramley Police Station, said while traffic was moving slowly, a man suddenly appeared and allegedly smashed the car’s passenger window.

“The suspect then managed to grab the woman’s cellphone, valued at R14 000, before running off immediately,” Maphakela explained.

The victim was unable to see the suspect as it was dark, but managed to report the incident at Bramley Police Station following the incident. Maphakela confirmed that police were currently looking for the suspect and were investigating the matter.
