Manhunt for four suspects

JOBURG – Jeppe police are looking for four suspects who are said have robbed a woman and her aunt.

Jeppe police have launched a manhunt for four suspects who were allegedly involved in a house robbery which took place on 21 July at about 1.30pm in Kensington.

A 26-year-old woman alleged that she was returning from town with her aunt when they got off a taxi on the corner of Juno Street and Roberts Avenue when they both noticed a Silver Chevrolet Aveo with only a driver inside.

According to Jeppe Police Station’s Warrant Officer Richard Munyayi, the woman and her aunt then passed the car and noticed that it had no number plates. “The car followed them driving slowly until they entered their house. They opened the main gate and entered and they later noticed that the small gate was damaged and open,” he said.

Munyayi further explained that upon noticing the damaged gate, they suddenly saw an unknown man approaching them, who then ordered them to keep quiet.

“He told them to sit down on the floor and took out a pepper spray and threatened to use it if they made any noise. The victims then noticed two more unknown men who were already inside the house, busy taking out television sets. Then the suspects demanded the victims’ cellphones, however, the complainant and her aunt told them they don’t have cellphones.”

The suspects were wearing blue work suits and used each other’s names at the scene. The two names which were heard by the complainant were Sipho and Bongani.

Munyayi said the suspects fled the scene in the Chevrolet. Police are looking for the suspects and two identikits have been drawn up.
