Parkhurts Village Fair returns even bigger

PARKHURST – The Parkhurst Village Fair promises loads of family fun and delicious food.

About 6 000 patrons are expected to attend this year’s Parkhurst Village Fair at Verity Park on 30 July.

The event under the theme, Urban Playground, is sponsored by Tom Campher Volvo, Four Seasons Hotel, The Westcliff and the Little Ashford Pre-School and will boast more than 100 food, retail and activity stalls.

“The fair is the resident’s way of raising funds to improve public spaces that are utilised by the community and it is also a great way to bring exposure to local businesses and organisations such as the Organ Donor Foundation and the SPCA,” said Catherine Ohlson de Fine, Parkhurst Village Fair organising committee volunteer.

Some of the features to look out for at the fair include an outdoor ten pin bowling alley, the Parkhurst Champagne and Gin Lounge, Westcliff Deli chic-picnic baskets, local products sourced from local businesses and plenty of delicious foods.

Lizette Watts, head of the organising committee, said they went all out to acquire games and activities which families could enjoy together.

“This year is about a shared family experience,” said Watts. “The National Children’s Theatre will perform on the day and parents and children will have an amazing time.”

Patrons are encouraged to bring their picnic blankets which they can donate at the end of the fair to the God First Church’s winter blanket drive for the homeless.

Tickets are available online at R50 per adult and R25 for children between the ages of two and 16. They will also be sold at the gate on Saturday for R70 per adult and R30 per child. Parking will be available at Parkhurst Primary School with tickets costing R20 and all parking proceeds will go towards the school.

All funds raised at the fair will be reinvested in the Parkhurst community to fund various projects and facilities that serve the community.
