Mandela Bridge closed off for CEO SleepOut
BRAAMFONTEIN – Mandela Bridge closed until 29 July
Spokesperson for Metro Police, chief superintendent Wayne Minnaar has confirmed that Mandela Bridge will be closed off until 9pm on 29 July for the CEO SleepOut.
“The area will be monitored 24/7 by Metro police,” he said. He urged motorists to make use of Queen Elizabeth Bridge and Carr Bridge as alternative routes.
CEO’s from around the country will take part in this year’s SleepOut on Nelson Mandela Bridge on 28 July to raise funds for three education-focused organisations, namely the ASHA Trust, Columba Leadership and the Steve Biko Foundation.
Schools were also invited to show their support by doing the same.
Speaking at a media conference earlier this year, Bongani Bingwa, a presenter on Carte Blanche, stressed the importance of focusing on education. “The need for education has never been higher, and the focus is not only on generating funds but on a national call to action for the rest of the country to get involved,” he said.
