The Torah Academy Nursery School recently hosted an exciting Chinese auction to raise much-needed funds for the school.
The auction, with comedian Nik Rabinowitz as emcee, was hosted at the nursery school and saw a selection of prizes up for grabs including a car, a getaway voucher and cash prizes.
Rabbi Shabsy Chaiton, administrator of the school, explained how a Chinese auction differed from an ordinary auction, with this auction having separate prizes for the different draws. “This allows ticket buyers to choose which prize to focus on, as opposed to having the first, second and third prize winner,” Chaiton said.
The successful event saw 600 people present, with the funds raised going towards expanding the current nursery school and furnishing three new classrooms.
The Torah Academy Pre-Primary School pupils provided entertainment for the event, ensuring a fun-filled auction for all.
