Three Parktown Girls High School pupils are riding the crest of a wave after landing in third spot at the annual Mintek Quiz in which 30 other schools participated.
The aim of the competition is to encourage pupils in choosing career paths in the sciences, engineering and technology. It is designed to promote awareness about the significance of minerals and metallurgy in South Africa.
The team consisted of Grade 12 physical science pupils, Milica Zdravkovic, Ifechukwu Mbajiorgu and Tasneem Seedat. Parktown Girls High was the only all-girls school in the top five.
“These girls carried themselves with grace and dignity. Well done on a fantastic achievement,” said Firoza Patel, head of department for physical science at the school.
