Bramley Park man arrested for hitting girlfriend with a glass bottle

BRAMLEY PARK – Heated argument leads to a man assaulting his girlfriend.

Bramley police arrested a man accused of assaulting his girlfriend using a glass bottle.

According to Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, spokesperson for the Bramley Police Station, the incident took place in Bramley Park after the two got into a heated argument.

“The complainant alleges that the argument began when the suspect came home with a friend and began packing his clothes into a bag,” he said.

She then asked the suspect where her valuables were, as they had been missing from the room and, at that point, an argument ensued between the two. Maphakela explained that the suspect started beating the woman with his fists and a bottle, resulting in her sustaining injuries to her face.

“The complainant reported the matter to the police and the man was arrested and charged with assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm and domestic violence,” he said.

Maphakela added that the suspect had since appeared in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court and was granted R500 bail.
