Taxi route meeting ends with two shot dead

PARKTOWN - Two people were shot dead at a taxi route meeting.

A taxi route meeting held on 13 May at Pieter Roos Park in Parktown ended tragically after one person was shot dead, one injured and another dying on the way to hospital.

Sergeant Mduduzi Zondo, Hillbrow Police Station’s spokesperson said. “The incident took place around 6.30pm when the meeting ended and the people from the meeting had started to disperse.” He added that two vehicles pulled up and the occupants of one of the vehicles starting firing at the group.

Zondo said Hillbrow police were on scene to investigate the matter. “We are urging anyone with information regarding the incident to contact us. I can confirm that a case of murder and attempted murder have been opened,” he concluded.
