Hyde Park High pupils dazzle at matric dance

HYDE PARK – Hyde Park High School pupils have fun at their annual matric dance.

With the theme of ‘Chic Black and White’, the pupils of Hyde Park High School dazzled at the Indaba Hotel at their annual matric dance on 7 May.

Spokesperson for the school, Avril Wright said, “As always, this evening is highly anticipated by the Grade 12 pupils and there were many who arrived in style to their final social event of the year. The evening was abuzz with elegant young ladies dressed in magnificent ballgowns and gents in their tuxedo finery.”

The school moved the date of their matric dance to earlier in the year to ensure that pupils enjoyed their dance without the end-of-year pressures of examinations, and this proved to be a successful option.

Wright added, “The year ahead is now of vital importance to all the matrics who have their mid-year exams coming up, followed by their preliminary exams.”

The head boy of the school, Daniel Yazbek and head girl, Rea Pitsoe addressed the staff and headmaster, Manolis Vogiatzis, as well as their grade head, Rykie Gaudin and the matric group, thanking them for their guidance throughout their school career and for allowing them to grow with their leadership opportunities.

They also acknowledged their peers and thanked them for the many happy school memories they shared, and wished them well for their end-of-year exams.
