An eye opener for Parktown Girls

PARKTOWN – Pupils armed with information that will prepare them beyond school.

Parktown High School for Girls held its annual Career Afternoon.

Communications and marketing officer for the school, Kerry Liss, said the afternoon was arranged by one of the teachers, Kripandi Naidoo, together with the Life Orientation Department. “This is the team that is continuously seeking ways to help transform the lives of pupils into successful and independent young women,” said Liss.

Seventy-four institutions presented pupils with various career options including fashion, engineering, cuisine, IT, sound engineering, media programmes and health sciences. “This year the tertiary institutions exposed pupils to careers that they hadn’t even considered,” added Liss.

The career afternoon provided a platform to motivate and inspire girls to seek diverse career and job opportunities. The institutions also provide information on scholarships, gap year jobs, and bursary and work study opportunities.
