Friend accused of rape in park

BRAMLEY PARK – Bramley police officers are on the hunt for a man linked to a recent rape in Bramley Park.

The shocking incident allegedly took place at Raumarais Park at about midnight. The victim, from Hillbrow, and the suspect, known to the woman, were driving from Rosebank.

Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, spokesperson for Bramley Police Station, explained that as the two were making their way in the car, the suspect stopped the car at the park. “The suspect then asked the victim to take a walk with him, but the victim refused, citing the darkness as a reason,” Maphakela said.

“He then [allegedly] pulled out a firearm and pointed it at her, instructing her to take a walk with him in the park, where he then [allegedly] raped her.”

Maphakela explained that following the ordeal, the suspect drove the victim back to her place and dropped her off.

He added that the victim had since opened a case at Bramley Police Station and that the police were currently investigating the matter and looking for the suspect.
