Maboneng features in Restaurant Week South Africa

MABONENG – Restaurant Week South Africa gives diners the chance to experience amazing foodie deals from the places participating and this year, that includes Kuhlcher Café in the Maboneng Precinct.

Jonathan Ursem, sales manager Restaurant Week South Africa, stated that the 11-day event is a great way to explore new restaurants at a great price.

“Restaurant Week is an international culinary event that started in the late 1990s. It’s being organised around the globe, and this is the fourth time it takes place in South Africa,” he said.

“During the Autumn Edition of Restaurant Week South Africa, a hundred top restaurants offer amazing specials for guests who book online. Restaurant Week really is a people’s event.”

He continued to say that the Autumn Edition has attracted the very cream of the South African cuisine crop – including seven Eat Out top 10 nominees. The way the spots are picked is based on price levels, presentation and reviews.

“We’re very happy that Kuhlcher Café is part of Restaurant Week. Kuhlcher Café has a kind of coolness around it,” added Ursem.

So how did Kuhlcher Café secure a spot on the menu? Marketing manager, Lizell Spiers, saw a post on Twitter and thought it would be excellent exposure for the newly-found venture. “We are proud of this achievement. We believe that our arts theme, venue and food offering makes us an ideal representative of the Maboneng community,” Spiers said.

When speaking about how this exposure would add to the already bustling precinct, Spiers added, “We are excited about the positive impact that the precinct had on the rest of the city. The growing community is a testament [to the] success of the Mabonebg project. We are excited to be part of it.”

Restaurant Week South Africa takes place from 21 April to 1 May.
