Greater Johannesburg region ANC branch calls for Zuma to go

JOBURG - The Sefako Makgatho branch in the Greater Johannesburg region has called for President Jacob Zuma to be removed or face the ANC's integrity and disciplinary committees.

According to media reports, the Sefako Makgatho branch in the Greater Johannesburg region has called for President Jacob Zuma to be removed or face the ANC’s integrity and disciplinary committees.

This follows a letter that was sent to Gwede Mantashe by the Branch chairperson, Sasabona Manganye, earlier today.

A mandate was also sent out from the branch. Click here and here to view the mandate.

According to the report, the first option for the ANC is to allow Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa to act in Zuma’s place until the party’s next conference in 2017.

If president Zuma refuses to resign, it is stated that he should then face the integrity committee or the national disciplinary committee.

“As all these processes unfold, the president should be temporarily suspended so that he doesn’t unduly influence the disciplinary proceedings, none of us are above ANC constitution,’ the branch said in the letter.

The third option that was presented that the party hold a special national conference to discuss and resolve the matter.
