Play, eat and work in Maboneng

JOBURG - If you're a business owner and don’t already have an office of your own, Maboneng is offering you and your business space to grow and develop.

The Built Environment Centre (Bec) in Maboneng is a place where you can take your work and build your business in a professional business space.

The Gauteng Institute for Architecture (GIfA) took on a project in partnership with Legrand Concept Store that would allow professionals to meet with others and work on their practices in a space that offers ideas, interaction and tangible growth possibilities for those starting companies or without office space.

“The Bec is a unique place in Jozi for creatives who need a place to meet, collaborate, work and interact with other design disciplines. It is a supportive place for you to growing your practice,” explained Daniel van der Merwe, president of GIfA.

The space offers meeting rooms, lectures, exhibitions, boardrooms, a bakery and a coffee shop for those who may find themselves in Maboneng on a regular basis.

GIfA has also carried out educational programmes on the premises, from workshops to internationally-certified lectures.

The facility also has an Internet connection for you, because what would a workspace be without it?

Takwanda Tshabalala is based at the centre and explained which requirements must be met in order for you to take your job to their premises. “Anyone can come here to work, but you must be a member of Bec or GIfa.”

Bec has more than 300 members who make use of their facilities and has space for 120 more people and 3 300 weekly open-desk hours available.

The only thing for you to do now is to find out about their membership rates and take your business to Johannesburg’s capital of creativity, Maboneng.
