Four nabbed after high-speed chase

YEOVILLE - Four suspects aged between 27 and 38 have been arrested for possession of stolen property, at the corner of Saunders and Joe Slovo inYeoville on 26 February.

Four suspects aged between 27 and 38 were arrested by Yeoville police on 26 February for possession of stolen property in Yeoville.

According to Thabo Malatji, spokesperson for Yeoville Police Station, the police were on patrol when they noticed a Toyota Quantum travelling at high speed.

“When we tried to stop the vehicle, the [driver] did not stop,” Malatji said.

“A high-speed chase ensued and the driver of the Quantum lost control and hit a wall. He ejected from the vehicle and ran away.”

However, Malatji said four other occupants were caught on the corner of Saunders and Joe Slovo roads in Yeoville.

“The police found a solar panel inside the Quantum and the suspects could not account for it,” added Malatji.

The suspects were arrested and detained for possession of stolen property and are expected to appear in Hillbrow Magistrates’ Court

soon.

The driver of the vehicle is still at large.
