Family love at George Hay Park

PARKVIEW- Residents enjoyed the day outdoors for Valentines Day.

Organised by the Parkview Residents’ Association, family and friends from Parkview gathered at George Hay Park for a Valentine’s Day picnic filled with love, laughter and food trucks offering delicious snacks.

“The Parkview Residents’ Association organises small get-togethers from time to time at George Hay Park for residents to meet up with friends and acquaintances. We also like encouraging residents to get out and use our open spaces,” said Theresa Gibbon, the association’s communications and marketing officer.

The entry fee was a bag of pet food for the Society for Animals in Distress, and resident Hannah Fleisch helped collect the food for the animals. “It is amazing, the turnout took out the consumerism of Valentine’s Day by giving back to a good cause. It is great to see people enjoying the day in nature.”

Residents Allen Uzzell and Denis Tilburn described the day as tranquil. “We love our suburb. We have been here for many years and will not move because it is events like today that show our true community spirit. People came out to have fun with their families but at the same time they are getting to know their neighbours better,” explained Uzzell.
