A man was arrested on 4 February at about 8.30am at the corner of Dunbar and Raymond streets in Yeoville for a case of business robbery and attempted murder.
Yeoville police spokesperson Constable Thabo Malatji said the police were on a routine patrol when they witnessed a woman and a child running away.
“When [police] inquired with residents they were told that there were three males robbing a shop,” he said.
“The suspects spotted the police while they were still in the shop and started running away. [The suspects] fired shots at the police and the officers returned fire. No one was injured.”
According to Malatji, a 34-year-old suspect was arrested and an unlicensed firearm was recovered.
“The other two suspects are still at large. A manhunt has been launched for the other two.”
The suspect is expected to appear in court soon.
