Norwood Primary School restores sports facilities

NORWOOD - The sports facilities of the Norwood Primary School will be restored in January under the management of a Steering Committee appointed to oversee the project.

According to Ward 73 councillor Mia Snyman, the school has long been in need of better sporting facilities to benefit the development of the school’s pupils. The project will commence on 14 January and will take place over the next 20 weeks.

“The project will include the upper field on the corner of Ivy and William roads as well as the bottom field on the corner of William Road and Wolfgang Avenue,” explained Snyman.

Meanwhile, on the upper sports ground, the locker room will be demolished and rebuilt and a new swimming pool will be constructed.

“On the lower sports ground, a new pavilion will be built and work will be done to make the fields user-friendly and safe for playing soccer,” said Snyman.

Snyman warned residents and properties neighbouring the school to expect noise, dust and other possible temporary inconveniences during the construction process of this project.
