You Suck (And Other Inescapable Truths)

Until 17 January at 3.30pm

P.O.P Art, 286 Fox Street

Tickets: R80

Picture Rainbow Brite crawling out her 80s television show and onto a stage. That’s the concept behind You Suck (And Other Inescapable Truths). The show will offer fun tips on how to ‘dance sexy’, be cool and pick up those hidden meanings scattered in all your favourite television shows. There will also be some singing involved, so don’t take yourself too seriously.

Local actress Klara van Wyk takes on the role of Rainbow Brite while Francesco Nassimbeni writes a rib-tickling script, directs the laugh-a-minute show and designs the costumes.

Bad Jews

Until 17 January

Auto & General Theatre on the Square, Sandton City

Tickets: R120 to 180

A night at the theatre is always a good idea. Bad Jews tells the story of cousins Daphna and Liam as they battle with honour, faith and heritage after their grandfather passes away.

While Daphna is devoutly Jewish, Liam is detached from his cultural traditions, causing the two to bump heads on a number of topics. Jonah, Liam’s younger brother, and Liam’s non-Jewish girlfriend, Melody, find themselves caught in the middle before the group is forced to spend time together and the comedy starts.
