Station Commander wishes Hillbrow well

JOBURG - Brigader Vukile Ntandane Station Commander for Hillbrow Police Station, wishes everyone a safe and secure festive season.

Ntandane urged everyone to behave in a positive and respectful manner throughout the Christmas season, and encouraged community involvement in combating crime. He said previously, communities were afraid to come forward with information, but said the community’s involvement helps in dealing with issues.

Ntandane said, “The community must protect each other and work together with the police, ensuring we, within the Hillbrow district, can live a better life and not allow criminality to take place.”

The station commander told The North Eastern Tribune that crime in Hillbrow is at its expected level for the year 2015, however, the contribution from the community has helped at bettering the lives of residents. Ntandane raised an interesting point during his message to the community. He said retail stores such as Spar and Ackermans had closed their outlets in Hillbrow in previous years, however, they seem to reopening outlets in the area. Ntandane said, “This could be because Hillbrow is becoming a safer place for us all.”

He requested that liquor outlets close their stores at 6pm during the festive season, especially on New Year’s Eve as this will create a safer environment for all.

Ntandane said, “Hillbrow is our home, let us respect it. Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones, charity begins at home.” Ntandane added that everybody should enjoy the festive season in a manner that all will remember and end off 2015 the best way they can.
