Valedictorians of Japari School

CRAIGHALL – Japari School held their valedictory ceremony on 26 November and the academic achievements of their Grade 7 pupils were recognised.

Serema Thesane received the top English, mathematics, Afrikaans, natural science, social science, economic management and computer awards. “Japari’s own Einstein,” said the school’s spokesperson, Adri Basson.

The top technology student was Aeryn Heyes, while Emma Shearer was recognised as the top art student.

The Rose Grey Trophy is always awarded to the student who displays a positive attitude, has good manners, and is polite to peers and adults. This year the trophy went to Stephanie Assad for her unwavering dedication to the school.

The headmaster’s award generally goes to a Grade 7 pupil who has, throughout the year, demonstrated the motivation to succeed in a wide spectrum of school activities both academically and in extra murals. The student who fulfilled all these criteria for this year was Aeryn Heyes.

“The guest speaker, Nicolas Serra, inspired the students and audience with his PowerPoint presentation and speech,” Basson continued.

“He is a remarkable young man who has overcome so many difficulties and challenges after being hit by a minibus as a young boy.”

Basson added that it was a delightful evening, enjoyed by all.
