Hot On Top

(12 to 13 December)

Randlords will host the bash of the year, complete with two international acts from Berlin. Marlon Hoffstadt and Matteo Luis will produce fantastic sounds from house music and disco all the way through to techno. Local supporting acts include Phat Jack, Tomorrows Will, Warren Bokwe and more, which will all be confirmed. All this while soaking in those gorgeous views of Jozi … not bad!

EXHIBITIONS

The Universal Archives

(12 October to 20 December)

The Universal Archives linocuts began as a series of small ink drawings by William Kentridge on pages of old dictionaries, made using both old and new paintbrushes. Kentridge has, to date, created almost 50 individual images and continues to expand the project with a series of drawings of old typewriters, among others. Some of these images will be printed on two sheets, using dictionaries and encyclopedias from the mid 50s.

The Pursuit of Values

(21 October to 5 December)

David Goldblatt is one of South Africa’s most widely admired photographers and, indeed, one of the country’s most influential artists. The Pursuit of Values exhibition includes photographs from Goldblatt’s twin projects, South Africa – The Structure of Things Then and Structures of Dominion and Democracy, as well as a number of images that have not previously been exhibited or published.

Boyz II Men & Joe The Hits Live Tour

Disneys The Little Mermaid Jr.

Ariel is back at the Joburg Theatre with all her fishy friends in a spectacular stage performance of the Disney classic. Sweeney Todd

This musical thriller by American theatrical genius, Stephen Sondheim, features one of the greatest musical theatre scores ever written. It tells the strange tale of Sweeney Todd, the Demon Barber of Fleet Street, who murders his clients with a straight razor while they lean back in his barber chair, and shuttles the bodies down to his accomplice, Mrs. Lovett, who turns them into much sought-after meat pies.
