Krispy Kreme touches down in S.A

ROSEBANK - Krispy Kreme Doughnuts held their official media launch recently for the store opening soon at the Zone.

Krispy Kreme, an international doughnut brand, recently held its official media launch for their store at the Zone in Rosebank Mall.

The launch also marked the 800th global store and the first store in Africa. With a red carpet laid out and balloons galore, the night saw many star-studded celebrities such as local and national media, top bloggers, industry players and an array of local celebrities including actress Boity Thulo, Maps Mo and DJ Switch and DJ Dino Brava attend the launch.

“We are so pleased to have brought this brand to South Africa. This country is a melting pot of cultures. We choose Rosebank to locate the store because of the diversity and different cultures,’ said Gerry Thomas, Krispy Kreme South Africa chief executive officer.

“Everything has been totally delicious and decadent. This is the ideal way to spoil myself after a hectic week of work and running around after the kids. I will definitely be back to try more flavours.” said LeAnne Dlamini, a South African Music Awards winner.

Eleni Giokos described the doughnuts as light and fluffy. “They beat Dunkin doughnuts by far. There are of fantastic quality, it’s like nothing I’ve ever tasted before.”

Attendees at the event were given the opportunity to dip doughnuts in a variety of delicious toppings as well as pick from an array of flavours of the already-made doughnuts.

The official opening to the public will take place on 25 November with an overnight camp-out planned from the 24 November where eager doughnut lovers can line up to be the first paying customers to taste the world-famous doughnuts.

“The products have been very well received and this bodes well for the 30 other stores we plan to open over the upcoming five years,” said Thomas.
