ORT South Africa has partnered with Bidvest in implementing educational projects in northern Johannesburg schools since 2007.

The partnership is aimed at improving teaching and learning in mathematics and science in primary schools. This year marks the seventh year of the ORT SA and Bidvest partnership to implement the maths and science educational projects.

ORT South Africa CEO Ariellah Rosenberg, speaking at the annual ORT and Bidvest Developing 21st Century Teachers’ Programme, said they were pleased with the progress the programme has made over the years.

“Our mission is to provide mentoring support, quality training for teachers, pupils, learners and job seekers. We are driven by our vision of educating for life. By 2019, every teacher teaching maths and science in Alexandra will have a computer,” she said.

To further enhance teaching and learning, ORT SA, through Bivest’s funding, has given 100 laptops to maths and science teachers in 12 primary schools.

Advocate Alison Bengtson, chief director of District Operations Management in the Gauteng Department of Education applauded the tireless work done by ORT in providing quality education and assisting the department in its vision.

“Every learner feels valued and part of an innovative system, we are pleased to have companies like ORT and Bidvest who constantly help students – more especially, in the maths and science departments.
