Photographic series to wow you

JOHANNESBURG – David Krut Projects will present a photographic series exhibition titled 13 by photographer St John Fuller until 19 December.

The entire series is focussed on artists and their work and Fuller uses multiple images of his subjects to create his intriguing pieces. The camera he uses is one Fuller built himself in order to re-shoot the subject matter – the multiple lenses of the camera channel light in such a way that the data being recorded by neighbouring optics is partially burnt over one another.

This process allows the images to blend and merge, resulting in fantastical landscapes in which the artist can be seen to be merging with their work.

It’s fascinating to see the result, and the best part is, Fuller has no idea what the final result will look like because of these various steps. The camera he built has no viewfinder, so from the moment he sets things up and opens the shutter, to the instant that he switches on the light after processing, he is uncertain of how the image will turn out.

The exhibition will feature human subjects including Colleen Alborough, Roger Ballen, Mxolisi Vusimizi Beauchamp, Endale Desalegn, Eric du Plan, Gordon Froud, Rhett Martyn, Shenaz Mahomed, Neil Niewoudt, Senzo Shabangu, Mary Wafer, Quinten Edward Williams and Diane Victor.

The exhibition will take place at the David Krut Bookstore, 151 Jan Smuts Avenue until 19 December.
