Lyndhurst Primary undergoes development

LYNDHURST - In May this year, Lyndhurst Primary School joined the Twinning of Schools Programme and was paired with Bovet Primary School in Alexandra.

The programme involves the sharing of facilities and human resources among schools to help pupils achieve more in education. In light of this, the Gauteng Department of Education has come forward with plans to develop the infrastructure and resources of Lyndhurst Primary School.

It is estimated that it will cost R20 to R50 million and will include a new nutrition centre, resurfacing of pavements, and upgrading of parking and sports facilities.

Jabulani Magagula, who is on the school’s governing body, said the objectives of the plans included upgrading the school to a smart school using digital teaching methods.

The school intends on eventually becoming a paperless school by introducing iPads and tablets for the children. Interactive smart boards will be available for a better teaching experience for teachers and pupils.

Meanwhile, Ward 81 committee member John Ndlovu encouraged all small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that would like to win contracts for the new developments at the school to submit the appropriate documentation. These documents include tax clearance certificates and portfolios of the businesses.

More clarity will be given on the details of the documents required on 11 November at Lyndhurst Primary School hall on the corner of Johannesburg and Kernick roads at 6pm.

Details: Johan Ndlovu 082 554 18 71; submission of SME applications to: The Ward Governance Office, 1st Floor Alexandra Multi-purpose Community Centre, 99 8th Avenue corner Alfred Nzo Street, Alexandra.
