Head in the clouds
PARKWOOD – David Krut Projects will be hosting Cumulus, an exhibition by Robyn Penn at the David Krut Bookstore in Parkwood until 30 November.
The exhibition will feature a number of new prints by Penn which follows her latest collaboration with the David Krut Workshop. Her most recent addition to this body of work is titled Cloud of Unknowing, which is a continuation and development of the themes from her Cloud works.
The cloud stands as a motif to suggest our inability to comprehend our place in the cosmos. The human condition is one of universal anxiety which expresses itself in an endless quest for understanding and meaning. The latest of Penn’s works ties in with her series of mezzotints titled Nine Views of a Cloud. It is the first time that both series can be viewed together.
The exhibition finds relevance in today’s religious skepticism and the preference for scientifically-based cosmological searches for understanding. The exhibition is certainly uplifting and a definite must-see.
Cumulus will be hosted at the David Krut Bookstore, 151 Jan Smuts Avenue until 30 November.
