Meet cadet of the year

JOBURG - Nkululeko Zilbokwe, cadet journalist with Caxton Joburg North for 2015, has been named Caxton Cadet of the Year, beating 13 other brilliant, budding journalists.

Nkululeko began his journey at Caxton Joburg North under the guidance of media stalwart Sipho Siso and found his wings in the Alex News community.

Once he had learned the ropes and broken some of the year’s biggest stories with the Alex team, Nkululeko moved on to the North Eastern Tribune where he has now been placed in a permanent position.

During the graduation ceremony, which was attended by Caxton CEO Bruce Sturgeon, Caxton Cadet School principal Gien Elsas, lecturer Ingrid Pepler, mentors, editors as well as the cadets and their families, each cadet was issued with a certificate in recognition of their hard work.

Nkululeko was not only named Cadet of the Year, but also Multi-Media Journalist of the Year. Nkulu has shown a knack for the multi-media aspect of storytelling as well as an innate ability to find great content.

Elsas said, “I am very proud of his successes at such an early stage of his career. He has shown true grit and is an inspiration. We’ve never had a cadet who has been so dedicated to serving his newspaper at the same time as studying full time. I salute him.”

The editorial team at Caxton Joburg North has been impressed by Nkulu’s sheer determination in the newsroom. He has already proved himself invaluable to our team – always willing to work the longest hours and put the most effort into making sure that a story is the best it can be.

Nkululeko, from all of us at Caxton Joburg North, we want to say the biggest congratulations to you. This is the start of an incredible career that we are genuinely excited to be a part of.
