BET Experience gets better

JOBURG - With a number of performers such as Raphael Saadiq and Maxwell having been announced as headlining acts for the BET Experience, you'd think that BET would have no more surprises to offer – but you'd be so wrong.

After the announcement that Raphael Saadiq would join Maxwell in the BET Experience, it was later released that Tamar Braxton, AKA, Diamond Platnumz and Nathi would also join the stellar lineup of performers in the spectacular upcoming urban, lifestyle and musical culture festival, set to take place in December.

Having taken a look at the jam-packed lineup of star power, we had to know who was pulling the strings behind the exciting event, so City Buzz caught up with vice president and managing director of Viacom International Media Networks Africa, Alex Okosi, to find out more.

Viacom is the holding company that brings you channels including MTV, MTV Base, BET, Nickelodeon and Comedy Central, among others.

Okosi gave City Buzz a brief overview of the exciting activities that are set to take place on the day. “We’re going to have food and beverage experiences, drifting of cars, fashion is part of it as well, so it’s really a day-long festival that is… focused on showcasing the best lifestyle and musical culture for people who love lifestyle experiences,” he said.

He went on to explain that using the BET brand made the event much easier to put together, hence the big-name lineup of stars who will perform, and that the international artists who have never visited South Africa before were more than happy to jump on board to deliver Africa with an experience like no other.

While Okosi could not divulge what else they have up their sleeves for the BET Experience, he assured that there is definitely more to come and more to experience.
