Zuma mocked for congratulating Casper

JOHANNESBURG – It seems as though President Jacob Zuma is in hot water again, and not for his inability to say large numbers.

The president was grilled on social media platforms when he sent congratulatory wishes to local hip-hop artist Casper Nyovest who filled up the Ticketpro Dome in Northgate on Saturday with a record-breaking concert, #FillUpTheDome.

The rapper is reported to have made history as he is the first local artist to completely fill the Ticketpro Dome with fans, which has a capacity of 20 000.

The president joined in the fun by releasing a short statement that praised Nyovest for filling the venue “without the assistance of any international act”.

However, Twitter users were quick to judge Zuma’s understanding of hip-hop and went as far as to mock the president’s ability to read out large numbers and even compared his ‘lack of action’ during the #FeesMustFall protests to how quickly he felt it was necessary to congratulate Nyovest.
