UPDATE: 22 October 2015, 12pm – A heavy police presence is in the city of Joburg to ensure that the march remains peaceful.
It is believed the protesters will march through De Korte Street to the African National Congress Head Offices at Luthuli House.
The marchers have moved away from Luthuli House and are going towards the Wits University campus on Yale Road.

It is reported that the students will march to to the African National Congress Head Offices at Luthuli House.

INITIAL REPORT: Students are enraged by the decision of council and the institution’s governing structure to raise fees by 10.5% from 2016 and the registration to just under R10000.
The university has been closed since the protest broke out on 14 October. The school management said the decision to close the institution for the rest of the week was to ensure the safety and security of their staff members and students.
The protest seemed to have inspired a wave of unrest throughout the countries universities with the University of Johannesburg being the latest to protest against fees increase.
Wits University and University of Johannesburg students are expected to embark on a protest to the African National Congress Head Offices at Luthuli House ,on 22 October in what is termed #JHBShutDown.
The South African Police Service and Johannesburg Metro Police kept a watchful eye as the students marched to the Wits University’s administrative campus.
