Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, spokesperson for Bramley Police Station, explained the reason behind the warning.
“We issued this warning because these alleged prostitutes give us problems because they steal valuables from clients who pick them up and try and buy their services,” he said.
He added that it was also hard to apprehend them because they often pretended to be in a relationship with the motorist when approached by the police.
Residents were further warned that if they were found in the company of a prostitute, both would be charged for the incident.
Maphakela confirmed that the four women have since been charged with prostitution and have made an appearance at the Randburg Magistrates’ Court where they received bail. The case continues.
