Come and enjoy a village fair

KILLARNEY – The New Killarney-Riviera Association is proud to announce that they will, once again, host their annual community fair on 24 October.

Chairperson of the association, Wayne Ford, expressed his excitement for the upcoming event, the Killarney-Riviera Village Fair.

“We will have a range of events, including sporting-type competitions for children of various ages,” said Ford.

“There will also be a humongous jumping castle, child-friendly reading and dancing workshops, and other events such as face painting and cupcake decorating for the smaller children.”

A free yoga class at 9am will start the festivities off, and there will also be various stalls for food and drinks while event-goers can enjoy live music throughout the day.

“All residents and local businesses are welcome to set up a stall at no charge so that they can trade with the community,” Ford continued. “You will need to bring your own furniture, but water, and hopefully power, will be available.”

The association will run an Instagram competition leading up to the fair with the theme ‘What do you love most about Killarney-Riviera?’

“We invite everyone to photograph various scenes in the area which they find most appealing – their favourite plant, pet, pothole, whatever you like – and share it with us on Instagram on @welovekillarney #2015photocompetition,” said Ford.

The judging will be done on a basis of the most ‘likes’ acquired and will be announced at the fair, with a prize awarded for the most loved photograph.

“Bring the family, bring a blanket to sit on, bring your pets and some other friends, and join us under the beautiful blooming jacarandas for a pleasant summer day in the fresh air,” Ford concluded.
