Man bust for attempted murder

YEOVILLE - Yeoville police arrested a 39-year-old man for attempted murder on 3 October at about 2am on the corner of Kenmere and Raleigh streets in Yeoville.

Constable Thabo Malatji of Yeoville Police Station said, “Police were on a routine patrol in the area when they saw a group of people gathered on the corner of Kenmere and Raleigh streets.”

According to Malatji, police found a man lying in a pool of blood and another male next to him allegedly holding a knife.

“The suspect with the knife [allegedly] tried to run away,” added Malatji.

“Police managed to arrest the suspect and he was identified by eyewitnesses as the person who [allegedly] stabbed the victim. The victim was taken to hospital in an ambulance and is in a stable condition.”

The suspect will appear in Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court soon.
