Savoy residents thank Bramley police after break-in

SAVOY - The owners of a property on Darwin Avenue in Savoy recently thanked Bramley police and Community Active Protection (CAP) following a break-in which occurred in their home on 26 September.

The owner, who wished to remain anonymous said, “We arrived home after going out on Saturday morning to find our pedestrian gate wide open. We thought that maybe one of our tenants had left the gate open, however, when we noticed our front door was open too, we realised that this was a robbery and a dangerous situation.”

According to the owner, they notified CAP and the security company was there within five minutes. “They were very prompt and made us feel safe by telling us not to go inside while they checked the property,” added the owner.

“The police were fantastic, everyone was polite and efficient. They arrived at our house soon after the incident. The case was registered shortly after we had opened one, and the forensics came the following day to take fingerprints. After that, the detective unit arrived to investigate.”

According to the owner, there were strange circumstances surrounding the break-in. “We have a table next to the front door with pictures of our family on it, all of them were found to have been placed face down,” he said.

“We found a ring that does not belong to us in the house with the initials FHL on it. We thought that this was very odd indeed.”

He added that their alarm went off during the night three days before the incident took place, and they found a bench been moved.

Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela of Bramley police said, “We dedicate ourselves to the community and are happy that the owners of the property have had a good experience with our members. We are a proud police station and stand together to prevent and solve crime.”
