Family fun to be had at Parkview Christmas Market

PARKVIEW - The Parkview Christmas Market is back for its ninth year of providing entertainment, exceptional food and loads of handmade products to the local community.

In addition to all this, community members who attend the event will indirectly support a local non-profit organisation with every ticket sold. The organisation, called Nicarela, in turn supports a number of outreach projects in and around Johannesburg.

The market will take place from 27 to 29 November at George Hay Park, Parkview.

According to Karola McArthur, board member of the organisation, the market raised R700 000 last year for Nicarela, which was then able to assist 16 of its beneficiaries.

“Nicarela’s purpose is to raise funds to support its outreach projects. We do this by organising events and markets with our volunteers. We have raised R2 million in the past six years, over and above what we received from the Parkview Christmas Market,” said McArthur.

Community members can visit the market on Friday from 3pm to 10pm, Saturday from 10am to 10pm and Sunday from 10.30am to 4pm.

If creating memorable crafts, gifts or culinary experiences is your speciality, you can approach Nicarela to book a stall for this year’s market. Stalls are limited.

Visitors to the market is R50 per adult per day or R70 for a three-day pass. Entrance is free for children under the age of 12.
