Mr ADT teaches the little one’s safety

CRAIGHALL PARK - Children learn the importance of being safe while still being entertained by Darin McDowall.

Keeping their little’s ones safe is one of the main concerns for most parents.

Darin McDowall, also known as Mr ADT, hosted an educational children’s security show at the Academy for Kids Pre-primary School to teach the children all there is to know about being safe.

He conducts entertaining shows while still keeping it educational by using a medium that will keep the children interested.

While performing magic demonstrations and puppetry, the children are taught about baddies and buddies by Mr ADT.

“It is great to start teaching the children from a young age the importance of being safe and looking after themselves. Teaching this at a young age will entrench safety as they grow up,” said McDowall.

The shows are run by ADT and are free of charge to pre-primary schools and primary schools.

The baddies and buddies show focuses on:

McDowall also speaks about personal safety, including children not putting pills or anything in their mouths without asking their parents first, dangers in the kitchen, electricity safety, not touching or pulling on plugs, not playing with fire, matches, lighters or candles, the danger of playing with guns, how to behave around dogs and what to do if a stranger comes into their house.

“It was very educational and I know the children have really learned a lot from the show,” said Marinda Visser, supervisor at Academy for Kids.

“It is always nice when Darin visits the school as the children enjoy his shows. The shows are important for all children because it teaches them to be more aware of their surroundings.”
