Creative thinking with the Art of the Brick

ROSEBANK - Three school's were recently treated to an excursion of creativity.

The Art of the Brick Lego exhibition which features sculptures created entirely from Lego bricks was on display at The Zone in Rosebank.

It was designed by artist Nathan Sawaya to inspire creativity in young minds and to demonstrate the power of an inventive approach in a bid to transform the mundane into the extraordinary.

Committed to a similar mandate of awakening creativity in South African youth, construction and building company GG Holdings took the opportunity to take 255 pupils from three schools to the internationally acclaimed exhibition for a day of exposure, mentoring and motivation.

The schools selected were Akani Metmar Primary School from Diesploot, Fred Magardie Primary School from Mamelodi, and Robin Hills Primary School.

“Often, corporate social investment initiatives are aimed at supplying day-to-day provisions such as food and clothing,” said GG Holdings CEO, Deon Groenewald, who also gave a motivational talk to the pupils at the exhibition.

“The focus of our initiative, however, is to stimulate and inspire young minds to dream of a future beyond their mundane circumstances. We are building dreams one brick at a time.”
