Bramley police on the hunt for copper cables thieves

MARLBORO – Bramley police need assistance from the community in nabbing a suspect linked to a business robbery in Sandton.

The suspect, Lungisani Sibonelo Sibiya, was allegedly involved in a robbery in Marlboro at a business where he was formerly employed.

According to Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, spokesperson for the Bramley police, Sibiya allegedly committed the incident in December last year with the help of an accomplice.

“It is alleged that on the night of the incident, a security guard [who allegedly turned out to be the accomplice] was on duty. Footage showed the suspect breaking and entering the premises,” he said.

Sibiya then allegedly stole copper cables and was assisted in carrying out the crime by the same guard on duty, alleged Maphakela.

The two have since been on the run.

Maphakela has appealed to community members to come forward with any information that could lead to Sibiya and his accomplice’s arrest.

Details: Constable Munyai 076 888 4069.
