VIDEO: Cheeky pigeon hitches lift along Corlett drive

JOBURG - A cheeky pigeon hitched a lift with an unsuspecting motorist on 30 September on Corlett drive.

According to North Eastern Tribune journalist, Andrew Howie, the pigeon landed on the left side of the vehicle and traveled from the top of Corlett Drive near Louis Botha all the way to the M1 Highway on-ramp.

Howie said, “I did not notice the little guy until a passing motorist asked if I regularly gave lifts to birds.”

According to Howie, the bird seemed relaxed all the way onto the on-ramp of the M1 until he (Howie) got out of the car and confronted his new fluffy companion. “I got out of the car because I was heading onto the highway and didn’t want him to get hurt and thought he may be injured.”

According to Howie, as soon as he approached the bird flew away quite happily.
