Community unites against crime in Norwood

NORWOOD - Members of the ANC and ANCYL of Ward 74, Police and Prisons Civil Rights Union, Norwood Community Policing Forum and other representatives of the community braved the cold weather to march to protest crime and the recent police killings.

The march started at Norwood Park and moved on to Norwood Police Station.

Secretary of the ANC in Ward 73 John Mkadimeng Branch, Stanley Letsoalo said, “The purpose of the march was to send out a clear message to the broader community that we have to unite behind stopping crime, women and child abuse, police killings and drugs.”

He added that the anti-crime march was organised by the ANC Ward 73 John Nkadimeng Branch.

“Thank you to those who attended,” he said.

“The weather was not in our favour, but we still had a good turnout.”

Sergeant Nurse Sanyane of Norwood police said, “Thank you to those who support us in our efforts to protect the community. We appreciate the initiative as we are all affected by crime.”
