Craighall Park Bowling Club receives a revamp

CRAIGHALL - The Craighall bowling club has a variety of sport on offer.

Craighall Park Bowling Club which has been a problem for many years, has recently undergone a revamp so that it can once again be utilised by the community.

The Johannesburg Bowls Association and Craighall Residents’ Association, along with Els Karate Club, have worked together to bring Craighall Park residents a community-based sports club with a coffee shop and lots of activities to enjoy.

Andrew Els, who had a hand in improving the club and is also the owner of Els Karate said, “We have worked hard and have come a long way to turning the old bowls club into a fresh new dynamic sporting facility with top quality instructors and coaches. Our coffee shop will be open soon, otherwise we are active and busy. Look out for our launch next month with an exciting children’s adventure challenge day.

“The club will open soon and is being maintained by a wonderful caretaker who wants the best for the club,” explained Paulette Malcolm, a member of the Craighall Residents’ Association.

Caretaker of the club, Honest Dube said, “Now that the club is clean, more people will come and this will be a good thing for the community. More people will come here because it looks nice and there are lots of sport that they can do,”

Pports that will be on offer include karate, tennis, ballet, modern and tap dancing, little kicker’s classes, pilates, bowls, a soccer clinic for boys and girls and children’s engineering workshops.

There will be a country market every Saturday where residents will be able to showcase or sell what they like and socialise with their fellow community members.
