Fun in the (almost) summer sun

PARKVIEW – Now that it’s approaching spring, no one has any excuse to huddle up indoors and not enjoy the warm sunshine with their families.

So if you’re looking for a great, wholesome family day out, then Parkview Junior School has the perfect answer.

“We will be hosting our second Garden Fun Day on 19 September,” said spokesperson for the school, Caryl Kelly.

“The function is open, not only to families of the school, but also to the broader Parkview and surrounding community.”

The day will consist of environmentally-friendly garden crafts and activities for children of all ages. Event goers can expect a vast variety of things to see and do, including archery, a climbing wall and, wait for it, a rocket.

There will also be numerous plants for sale at competitive prices including seedlings, indigenous species and rare plants.

Food lovers will also be spoilt for choice as a range of delicious home-made American, Asian and South African foods will be available.

“A child zone, garden zone, quiet zone, and entertainment zone which will feature different entertainment throughout the day including a special guest appearance…” said Kelly, not revealing who, exactly, because it’s a surprise.

The Garden Fun Day will begin at 10am and entrance is set at R30 per person and R10 for children under 12.

“It is an annual event not to be missed on the Parkview community calendar,” Kelly concluded.
