According to Constable Thabo Malatji of Yeoville police, the suspects went into a bar on Regent Street and allegedly stole liquor and two laptops.
Malatji said, “The owner of the bar heard a noise and went to investigate. He saw three males inside the bar and alerted the police.”
An eyewitness, Janice Maloi said, “I saw three men hanging around the bar and I could tell they were <ct:Italic>tsotsis<ct:>. I can tell by the eyes. When they came out of the place, the police were there. It happened so quickly. I am happy to see that police are doing what they can to stop <ct:Italic>tsotsis<ct:> like this.”
“We commend our colleges on their speedy reaction which led to the arrest of the suspects when they tried to escape,” added Malatji.
All three suspects are expected to appear in Hillbrow Magistrates’ Court soon.
