Summit College scored twice in the first half to go into the break 2-0 up. However, Torah Academy’s Yehuda Goldberg netted twice in the second half for his team to level the scores at 2-2 with the game going into extra-time.
Goldberg bagged his hat-trick after his team was awarded a penalty to make it 3-2, and then teammate Mendy Ash put the game to bed with a double strike – one of which was considered to be the best goal of the season – to give Torah an emphatic 5-2 win.
The academy’s principal, Rabbi Yossi Chaikin said, “It is more than just a soccer victory. It also taught us all a powerful life lesson. Never give up from what appears to be a hopeless situation, and summon all your energy to recover and end up on top.”
