Suspects arrested after high-speed chase

PARKTOWN - Two suspects arrested after they were found in possession of several loose computer boxes for unidentified vehicles.

Following a high-speed chase and shots fired in Parktown on 8 August at around 3pm, two male suspects aged 31 and 36 were arrested by Parkview police.

Johannesburg flying squad members responded to a call for backup in a pursuit of a suspected stolen vehicle from Tracker.

“The two suspects were driving in two vehicles, a VW Polo which was later confirmed as stolen and an Audi A3 with false registration plates,” said Sergeant Lloyd Ramovha, spokesperson for Parkview Police Station.

According to Ramovha, the suspects surrendered after warning shots were fired at their vehicles.

“Several loose computer boxes for unidentified vehicles, as well as keys, were recovered,” said Ramovha.

The two suspects were charged with possession of suspected stolen vehicles and possession of car breaking implements. They will appear in Hillbrow Magistrates’ Court soon.
